For as long as Denny Pompa can remember , he wanted to be behind a microphone ,in front of an audience or a camera. While in high school he performed in various plays, playing a variety of parts including a comedic version of Dracula. He also has an ongoing love affair with music. From his early school days participating in school chorus and band to playing guitar and singing in local bands, which he does to the present day.
While in his teens in the mid 70’s, he pursued a career in radio that lasted for the next 30 years. Denny worked for an AM station in West-Central Pennsylvania, where he served as both an on-air personality and as production director. He was also part of a weekend program with fellow air personality Chuck Englody… The two of them often improvised comedy bits that were often done live on the spur of the moment.
Denny’s creativity was recognized by station management and was often given free reign in the production room and was often given the challenge to come up with creative radio spots. A few years later, he was on the air at a group of stations in Altoona, Pa., where he worked with legendary Altoona personality - Sean Mckay (Puff) - and was heard on the nation’s first “Froggy" station. Denny also served as copy writer and production director there in the late 90’s.
Most recently, Denny was the morning drive personality at WHPA - FM, with studios in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. In mid 2007, Denny teamed up with Wayne Nelms to create The Zany Good Guys Real Oldies Morning Improv. Denny & Wayne did many improvisational features and created characters like "Rooftop Meteorologist" - Ed Lemons, Wayne's Cousin Clem, and their answer to Punxsutawney Phil - "Walt The Woodchuck."
Denny now brings his experience in voicing, producing and writing, and improvising to work for “YOU” at DenWay Productions.
